For today's Rainy Fun Friday, we thought it would be a good idea to spend the time indoors to discuss the importance of rules in the classroom and in society. It was a great way to kick off the topic of government in our country and the development of our country's Constitution. Similar to the time before the 13 colonies came together in "perfect union," we have been observing our classroom environment's needs so that we too can organize and develop guidelines to govern our classroom as a group. After reading about life in 1787, we broke off into small groups to brainstorm rules and guidelines to help Room 203 to maintain peacefulness, respect, order and safety/health. Although our "Classroom Convention" didn't last multiple months long like the Constitutional Convention of 1787, we were able to bring our ideas together and put together a first "draft" of classroom rules this afternoon. Parents, we have sent home a copy of our "draft" constitution with your child. Please review this important document with your child, sign and return it on Monday morning in your child's binder. We look forward to making "amendments" or revisions, and inviting our first and second graders to officially sign the document with our Quill pen!
