The first and second grade students completed a unit on Autobiographies and Biographies this February. The culmination of our study was the President Biography Presentations on Father's Mornings. From learning about Lincoln's famous "Emancipation Proclamation" speech, to stumbling across fun facts such as President Obama's strong dislike of ice cream from all his early years at Baskin Robbins, the students were able to grasp and communicate the importance and the interesting facts about their President from our nation's past. With careful research and teacher support. each child learned to understand their president's legacy with respect to the current events at each corresponding time. The students worked hard to research basic information about their assigned president and to create a visual, lifelike poster.
